Here are some highlights:
"The Drought Is Over 2: Subtitled Carter 3 Sessions": This tape presents Weezy warming up his R&B loverman chops, singing and rapping over slow jams and Heart's "What About Love?"
"Dedication 3": This post-"Tha Carter II" set with Atlanta's DJ Drama is a Southern party tape, keeping it real, raw and punctuated with spoken passages that are alternately funny, outrageous and perplexing. It sounds like he could cut one of these each week, and they'd all be entertaining for those with a taste for this sound.
"The Leak V": Another set from 2008, "The Leak V" is a fully thought-out album and the logical follow-up to "Tha Carter III." Unlike the others here that explore one of Lil Wayne's influences, this crosses styles and modes in a less marketplace-conscious way.
